Street Photography: #13 Jacky Tonight

In Chioggia there is an old traveler who, after his long wanderings around Europe, decided to return home, to the same house where he was born, an unspecified number of years ago, from which he left with his nine brothers and in which he now lives with his wife.

Let me introduce you to Jackie to night. His house is open to the Sun, Friends and guests.

In the "Casa Vecia" to friends and acquaintances, old and new and in exchange for a "pay what you want" price (yes, really), Jakie offers good plates of pasta or maybe Fish and Chips, along with a couple of “ombre” (the glass of wine as it was and is still called by the Venetians) where the guests can listen to the incredible adventures that made him a living legend. The objects collected during his travels and those given away by people who knew him adorn the walls of the whole house. Suffice it to say that in the bathroom there is a whole ancient armor, while in the living room, you eat on two coffins.

Jakie tonight is a person able to make me feel reconciled with the world. For a few hours he is able to make me feel like we still have hope to change the world in a more human-sized place.

Live long and prosper, Jakie.
