Street Photograhy: #4 Rahiblovi the traveler

This morning I got up very early, took the car and immediately went to Sempione’s park. I wanted to take a long walk and then go from Paolo Sarpi street, which always give great photographic satisfaction, to Piazza Moscova.

Waking up early and wandering around the city is not just a pleasure, it has become a necessity, a way to combat stress at work and find a more human rhythm in my everyday life. Getting lost in the streets of Milan when the first rays of the sun begin to peep through the buildings, can be surprisingly good, even when there’s no one around and people are not yet filling up the streets.

Moving towards Corso Como, I came across a map lying half on the ground and half on top of a large travel backpack that must have really seen a lot of things. Few additional elements were keeping the map on the ground, preventing it from being moved away from the wind: a pencil case and a small shell to collect alms.

The map was a road map of Europe, showing various routes, with the mileage covered, both on foot and by bicycle. The tracks marked the map like a spider's web. Looking at the map and face.

I wanted to know more, and that's how I met Rahiblovi Traveler. We stopped to talk together for half an hour. I told him about what I do for a living, about the world of video games, about my work and experiences abroad, in England and Canada, while he told me about his life. Born in London, on the death of his parents he decided to leave his lifestyle and travel all over Europe on foot. He showed me, pointing his finger on the map, all the routes he had taken in the last 7 years, covering more than 65000km, until he decided to spend the little money he had managed to collect with alms to buy a bike. He told me about his experiences in the different European capitals and the various regions, and how in each one, he had found something beautiful who drove him to continue his journey through the different styles of life and cultures. Now he is trying to get back in Germany, which he loved a lot, but its currently stuck in Milan as with the Covid, the borders with Austria are guarded by the Military. Of course I couldn’t resist to ask him for a picture.
