In approximately 1981, plans were made for the construction of two new reactors, namely Reactor 5 and Reactor 6. The photograph presented here specifically pertains to Reactor 5, which, at the time of the Chernobyl accident, had reached a completion rate of 70%. The graffiti adorning the cooling tower was created by Guido Van Helten in commemoration of the thirtieth anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. This artistic tribute honors Igor Kostin's dedication and sacrifice in documenting the tragic event.
