Agriturismo Mulin Visconti
So, a few days ago, I went to eat at "Mulino Visconti," which is a really, really beautiful, and interesting agritourism spot not too far from my home. This agritourism is run by Felice and Angelo. Felice takes care of the land—over a hectare of fields where basically everything used in the kitchen is grown. Angelo, on the other hand, is the chef. It’s a unique agritourism spot because they make vegan cuisine, with some raw elements in the case of desserts. Now, I am absolutely not a vegan. In fact, I’m a carnivore, and yet, despite that, going there, I completely fell in love with their cuisine. Being vegan, they obviously don’t use butter either, but they create a sort of “butter substitute,” sometimes with cashews, sometimes with other things. The dishes are absolutely delicious. You drink wines that come from Lombardy vineyards because, being an agritourism, they have to stay within Lombardy’s borders and promote Lombard products. But, for instance, they also make pizzoccheri—homemade from the pasta—and they are truly fantastic. I fell in love with this place and with the people who run it because they are people full of passion who want to do things right. Oh right, they also have two double bedrooms in this beautiful setting, and in the morning they serve a generous vegan breakfast with homemade jams. They also have a pool.
Sorry if the photos aren’t great—I took everything with my phone using just a small LED light. The atmosphere was really beautiful and perfect for a romantic dinner, but definitely not ideal for photography. That said, the place is called Agriturismo Mulin Visconti, and I highly recommend giving it a try. At the bottom of the page, after the photos and the menu—which, just a heads up, is seasonal and changes depending on what’s available from the garden—you’ll also find a map.
