Mine City in Yamaguchi Prefecture is home to Akiyoshidai (秋吉台), which boasts the highest concentration of karst formations in Japan, and Akiyoshido (秋芳洞, Akiyoshidō), the nation's largest and longest limestone cave. The region, encompassing both the plateau and the cave, is designated as a quasi-national park.
